Empire Fighting Chance is a Bristol-based charity that supports thousands of disadvantaged young people each year through a combination of non-contact boxing and personal mentoring. Their headquarters, The Mill Youth Centre in Easton, serves as the hub for training, education, and community engagement. To meet growing demand for their services, Harris Evolution was appointed to deliver a two-storey extension to the existing facility.

The works began with enabling and access provisions, including full scaffolding and site security measures. Demolition included the controlled opening up of existing brickwork and selective removal of structures to prepare for the new build. Groundworks involved site levelling, removal of a tree, excavation for foundations, and the construction of a new ground floor slab. Sub-structure works also incorporated retaining walls and associated foundations.

The superstructure was formed with fabricated steelwork, all treated with intumescent coatings, and completed with fenestration and external envelope works. Installation of new external doors and windows was carried out in line with specification to provide secure, high-performance finishes. Roofing works included the construction of a new flat roof system, along with guttering, rainwater goods, and associated waterproofing details.
