Harris Evolution were appointed as the Principal Contractor to undertake a four-phased refurbishment of the on-campus student accommodation in Lancaster. The works were undertaken across multiple blocks over a 8 week period in the summer.

The project involved a full decoration and renewal of carpets to 219 bedrooms and 43 corridors across 8 blocks. Works also included the replacement of 7 kitchens and refresh of a further 30.

Sectional completion dates were required for different blocks within the programme to ensure the buildings remained operational. As buildings were partially occupied, works had to be segregated, with Harris Evolution taking possess of several floors at a time, with the remaining rooms occupied by the residents.

As this project was undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic, works had to be carefully coordinate to provide adequate social distancing and to mitigate any safety risk posed to residents, staff and visitors. Extra COVID-safety measures were also put in place.

This project formed part of a rolling programme of refurbishment works for the on-campus accommodation at Lancaster University.
