Arnhall Nursery, Dunblane
Situated in the rural town of Dunblane, Arnhall Day Nursery is an independently run forest school spread over two buildings and includes a large enclosed garden surrounded by woodlands. The large stone built properties can accommodate up to 107 children, offering full-time and part-time places from the ages of 3 months to 5 years.
The client had identified that some of the existing facilities were starting to look tired with some fixtures and fittings reaching their end of life. Working with the client, Harris Evolution established the critical areas that needed addressing as a priority and help refine the specifications of the project.

5 weeks
Various cosmetic improvements were carried out on the buildings over a 5 week period which included new flooring, decorating, minor M&E works, the installation of new kitchen units and bespoke storage units. Minor repair works were also undertaken throughout to enhance the visual aesthetics of the rooms and a new laundry room was created by reconfiguring the staff room and toilets.
A total of 8 class rooms and 4 bathrooms were refurbished along with a kitchen and staff room. Groundworks were also completed to improve the drainage system and a new sand pit, fencing and shade sails were installed in the garden.
As this was a live site, all works were completed at night and during the weekend to minimise disruption. Each morning and evening the team worked with the client to provide a handover and to ensure that the site remained clean and tidy each day.
