The refurbishment of a large, five-storey purpose-built student accommodation block comprising, 31 en-suite rooms and 152 studio bedrooms, completed to a Standard Plus iQ specification. A five phased programme of works completed over the 2022 summer break.
Throughout this challenging project, Harris Evolution performed the role of Principal Contractor, while the clients design team provided design specifications and drawings. As this was a fast-pace programme of works, a dedicated Site Manager and Project Manager were appointed to carefully coordinate this extensive refurbishment.
Over a 9 week period, the team replaced a total of 183 beds, blinds, desk chairs, showers, and various bathroom accessories. As well as upgrading the existing fixtures and fittings, the studios and bedrooms also benefited from new flooring, redecorations, new lighting and various M&E works. Cosmetic improvements were also carried out on the bathrooms, communal corridors, stair cores and lobbies.
As part of our conscious effort to reduce environmental degradation all the old mattresses were collected by Litta to be recycled. Bateman Skips were also employed to separate our site waste, ensuring over 90% was kept out of landfill.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, ready for the new academic year.
