Astor House, Plymouth

Astor House, located in the heart of Plymouth city centre, is a flagship purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) residence operated by iQ. To elevate the standard of living for its residents and modernise facilities, the property underwent a comprehensive refurbishment programme designed to upgrade kitchens, bedrooms, and communal areas.

Harris Evolution was appointed to deliver the works within a demanding 8 week timeframe, ensuring the transformation was completed ahead of the new academic year. The programme began with the full strip-out of 36 kitchens, followed by redecorations, new flooring, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and the installation of contemporary units and fittings.

Upgrades were also delivered across 247 bedrooms, where students benefited from new blinds, improved bedside and main lighting, replacement desk chairs, and new pin boards. Meanwhile, communal spaces were revitalised with upgraded lighting, creating a brighter, more welcoming environment for socialising and study.

The project required careful planning and precise execution to achieve high-quality results within the short time-scale. Working in close collaboration with the client, Harris Evolution successfully coordinated access to student living spaces and managed logistics in a live environment, ensuring minimal disruption while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety throughout.
