A three-phased refurbishment scheme undertaken between 2019 – 2021 on all the on-campus student accommodation in Leeds. A total of 621 bedrooms, 16 kitchens 213 bathrooms and 66 corridors, renovated over a three-year period during the summer.
Harris Evolution were appointed as the Principal Contractor acting as the Site Manager and Project Manager whilst the clients design team provided interior proposals and developed scheme specifications and drawings.
Each phase was completed within a 7 – 8-week window, during the quieter summer seasons. Extensive planning was required to ensure the works where delivered to a high standard within a short time frame ready for each, new, academic year. This was particularly challenging during summer works 2020 - 2021, which were completed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the ongoing travel restrictions and additional social distancing requirements, each phase was delivered on time and within budget. The dated interior was successfully overhauled, transforming the buildings into contemporary student accommodation blocks.
Only local labour was used for this project providing job opportunities within the local area. Local suppliers and subcontractors were also used wherever possible.
