As part of its expansion into the UK market, B&B Hotels acquired a 126-bedroom property in Ipswich, formerly operating as a Pentahotel. The project formed part of the group’s brand-mandated upgrade programme, designed to bring new acquisitions in line with B&B’s quality standards and branding. The investment focused on enhancing the guest experience through modernised bedrooms, upgraded facilities, and revitalised public areas.
Harris Evolution was appointed to deliver the refurbishment programme over a 16-week period, with works carried out while the hotel remained fully operational. This required a carefully phased approach to minimise disruption for both guests and staff. The refurbishment encompassed all bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as corridors, circulation areas, and the ground floor food and beverage facilities. External works were also completed, ensuring a full transformation of the property.
The professional team included Allison Pike Partnership as Architect, Pulse Consult as Principal Designer, Project Manager, and Quantity Surveyor, and Thornley & Lumb Partnership providing M&E design. Delivering the project in a live environment demanded meticulous planning around access, logistics, and health and safety, enabling hotel operations to continue smoothly while the refurbishment was completed to the highest standard.
