Center Parcs, a premier short break holiday operator with six high-end destinations across the UK and Ireland, includes the expansive 400-acre Longleat Forest site in Wiltshire. Offering a wealth of leisure facilities—from a subtropical swimming pool and spa to an indoor sports complex, beach, and adventure playgrounds—guest experience is central to its ongoing success.
To uphold their commitment to premium recreational experiences, Center Parcs invested £2.8 million in the relocation and modernisation of their tenpin bowling facility. This formed part of a broader expansion of the Aqua Sana spa, freeing up space for a brand-new, state-of-the-art bowling complex.
Appointed as Principal Contractor, Harris Evolution managed the full scope of the works, which included significant structural modifications and internal alterations. New foundations and temporary structural supports enabled internal excavations, paving the way for the construction of brand-new bowling lanes, a stylish bar area, a children’s play zone, and a multi-use games hall. Existing bathrooms were also refurbished as part of the upgrade.
A key aspect of the project was the complete manufacture and supply of all bespoke joinery, which played a critical role in achieving the premium finish demanded by the client. We also sourced and integrated specialist lighting solutions tailored to the aesthetic and functional requirements of the space. All mechanical and electrical systems were fully replaced, and the interior underwent a comprehensive decorative overhaul. Externally, the building was re-roofed to ensure long-term durability.
A major challenge of the project was carrying out all works within a live, operational environment. It was essential to maintain full use of existing guest facilities throughout the construction period—requiring meticulous planning and coordination to avoid any disruption or noise impact on the guest experience.
